Scaling & Root Planing

Scaling and root planing is one of the most effective ways to treat “gum disease” before it becomes severe. Gum disease (periodontal disease) is an infection of the tissues and bones that surround and support the teeth. Scaling and root planing is a “deep cleaning” for periodontal therapy done to remove or eliminate dental plaque and calculus which cause inflammation. This helps to establish a periodontium (the bone, connective tissue and gum that surround and support the teeth) that is free of disease.

Dental plaque is a structured resilient yellow-grayish substance that adheres tenaciously to the tooth surfaces. It is a bio-film that contains primarily bacteria. When this plaque gets mineralized, it forms into calculus. Scaling and root planing is considered to be a basic treatment of periodontal disease. Our hygienist will discuss the importance of this procedure with you if it fits your periodontal health needs.

Teeth Whitening

Brighten your smile with teeth whitening! This take home teeth whitening procedure consists of making custom made trays for optimum whitening results. It will take two visits.  We begin by taking upper and lower impressions of your teeth for the fabrication of the custom trays. The next visit we will try in your trays to ensure proper fit and provide you with your take home kit along with homecare instructions. The take home kit will allow you to whiten your teeth at home at your convenience. Just place the gel solution in the trays and wear as directed each day. You’ll notice a change within 1 week and optimal results in 2-3 weeks. During your dental exam, you may discuss with the dentist if you are a good candidate for teeth whitening.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry refers to any dental work that improves the appearance of a person’s teeth and smile.

Composite fillings/ Tooth-colored fillings
Composite fillings are tooth colored fillings that offer many advantages.

- They are aesthetically pleasing and we have several shades to choose from to match your tooth specifically.
- Add a greater strength and durability to a weak tooth.
- Won’t expand or contract like metal(amalgam) fillings, preventing unnecessary tooth damage.

Porcelain Crowns
A crown is a dental restoration which completely caps or covers a tooth or dental implant. Crowns are an ideal way to rebuild teeth which have been broken or weakened by decay or a large filling. The crown covers the remaining portion of the tooth to provide a strong structure and protect the tooth. A crown also gives it the shape and contour of a natural tooth. Crowns can be made from porcelain fused to metal or gold, full gold or all porcelain.

Bridges
A bridge is used to replace missing teeth by using the surrounding or adjacent teeth as a foundation. A fixed bridge is a great way to restore missing teeth with the use of a non-removable (fixed) porcelain bridge. There are several types of bridges your dentist will discuss with you to best fit your dental needs.

Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain used to recreate the natural look of teeth, while also providing strength and resilience comparable to natural tooth enamel. Veneers are used to correct many different problems including closing spaces between front teeth, chipped or cracked teeth, and teeth that are worn.
Porcelain veneers provide a cosmetic solution to give you a smile you have always wanted. Ask us if veneers are the right choice for you and we will begin with a smile analysis to determine what steps will be necessary to achieve the smile you desire.
